I joined the group in September 2008 as part of the OP3 project to investigate the processes controlling the
fast photochemistry of OH and HO2 radicals in tropical regions.
My research is aimed at understanding observations of OH and HO2 made with the AirFAGE instrument during the AMMA
campaign (West Africa, 2006) and the OP3 campaign (Borneo, 2008). This work is jointly supervised by
Dwayne Heard
(School of Chemistry)
and Mat Evans
(School of Earth and Environment),
and involves the use of constrained box models to explore our understanding of the tropospheric photochemistry in tropical regions,
and to investigate the impact of biogenic VOC emissions
on tropospheric chemistry.
Since joining the group I have also been involved in measurements of OH and HO2 at the Cape Verde Atmospheric Observatory
during the Seasonal Oxidant Study in 2009, and am currently involved in the collection and analysis of HOx data as part of the
RONOCO and SeptEx projects to investigate the role of nighttime chemistry in the urban troposphere.

Previous Research
I obtained my PhD from UCL under the supervision of Dr David Rowley, investigating the gas phase kinetics of key peroxy
radical reactions involved in atmospheric oxidation processes. My research used laser flash photolysis coupled with time-resolved
broadband UV spectroscopy, using a charge coupled device (CCD) detector to enable the measurement of time and wavelength resolved UV
spectra throughout the course of a reaction.
Following my PhD I worked at the University of Manchester in the EPSRC National Centre for EPR Spectroscopy under the supervision
of Profs David Collison and Eric McInnes.
