The atmosphere is a very complex system which cannot be simulated to all extent in the laboratory. Therefore, even if spatially and
temporally limited on a campaign-basis, the collection of atmospheric data in field studies constitute the framework for atmospheric
research. Modelling of the obtained results can test our understanding of the relevant underlying processes in the atmosphere. For
this, it is vital to attract many researchers to bring together several measurement techniques in order to cover a wide selection of
parameters describing the state of the atmosphere.
In our group we run a longpath DOAS instrument and a MAX-DOAS. Also, for tropospheric application, an in situ instrument for the
detection of the hydroxyl radical is under development. In addition to this, we are involved in the exploration of the metal layers
in the upper mesosphere and lower thermosphere.
